Character Name: Guinaifen
Character Canon: Honkai Star Rail
Canon Point: post-Fyxestoll/A Foxian Tale of the Haunted
Age: 19

Crime: Trespassing! A Foxian Tale of the Haunted has her breaking into an area, and in her tragic backstory, her brothers raided a Xianzhou ship so there's a theme of 'trespassing' there as well.

Background: History
Basic 'A Foxian Tale of the Haunted' synopsis, which Guinaifen's really featured in.

Personality: At first glance, Guinaifen comes across as a vivacious, passionate, confident young woman who knows what she wants and to an extent that's pretty accurate? Despite the trauma of her early life (going from a privileged life to seeing her home be destroyed before her eyes, to living in immense poverty, to having her surviving family turn to a life of crime just to keep them fed) Guinaifen has weathered it all really fucking well and came out upbeat and confident.

Maybe a little too well, actually, but I'll get back to that in a second.

Going back to confidence - she's thrown herself into her life aboard the Xianzhou Luofu. She's adopted a new name (birth name Guinevere, Guinaifen is a name given to her by a friend) and a new career as a street performer, entertainer, and streamer. And she's thriving? Despite people noting, hey, maybe she wants to consider getting a real career/"career", Guinaifen is sticking to her dream and she's doing well enough in it that she can keep her belly fed and a roof over her head.

She has no desire to leave the Xianzhou, which in itself might not seem like a big deal, except; the Xianzhou is populated by a lot of long-life species whose lifespans can be measured in the hundreds or even thousands. Guinaifen? She has a normal Earth human life expectancy, give or take medical advancements from the sci fi fantasy setting. She's not immortal, though. She'll age and die in a blink of an eye, compared to her friends who will live for hundreds of years afterwards.

This doesn't seem to bother her. "On the Xianzhou, short-life species like us have a fleeting existence, here one moment and gone the next. That's all the more reason to seize the moment while you still have it!" And it's admirable! Instead of dwelling on her past, Guinaifen is doing her best to live in the present, and have a great time while doing so.

But maybe she could stand to focus a bit more on the past or consider her future a bit more? Guinevere isn't quite a dead name, she's open about who she was and where she comes from, and her internet handle in-universe is LilGuiGuinevere. So it's not a secret.

But when she talks about it, it's either mythologized (she talks about her past in some doggerel, so it's all rhymes or a steady beat) or from the perspective of a cool big sis talking about some past stuff that happened that she's learned important life lessons from and has grown past. She mocks one of her brothers for still preferring to go by his birth name of Lancelot instead of Langshile, and doesn't really get into why he might prefer the name he was born with. (The mockery isn't in a bad way, per se, it's very 'pfft my stick in the mud bro likes Lancelot, pfft.')

When not acting as Guinaifen the Streamer/Performer, Guinaifen tends to occupy niches like the cool older sister, buying people drinks and coming up with plans, but also isn't so responsible she can't do stupid or impulsive things. The plot of A Foxian Tale of the Haunted kicks off by her learning about a haunted area, seeing that the local government is clearly in the area, and still wanting to sneak around the guards, all so she can record film and do it for the kicks. That said, when this leads to consequences? She helps clean up her consequences.

Guinaifen's learned how to handle herself in a fight. She's adapt enough in a fight to not immediately wilt and die, though she prefers to leave the combat to her friend, Sushang. Which also isn't a bad thing? Sushang is an in-universe guard, she's trained for this, she knows how to handle a sword. For all of Guinaifen's assertiveness, she knows when someone else's skill set is better suited to a situation and is 100% prepared to step aside and let them handle it. (They might not be happy about this, though.)

You can't become a legendary streamer without taking a few risks, but that doesn't mean you can't be smart(ish) about them.

All in all, Guinaifen is doing pretty alright, but maybe could benefit from sitting down with a professional and talking about a few things she might be ignoring...? But given the genre, she could be doing a lot worse.

Abilities: Guinaifen's in-game kit revolves around her hitting things with a polearm, and doing area of effect fire damage via firecrackers she pulls from nowhere. Guinaifen can also debuff them by applying burn, which does damage over time - it's like in games like pokemon? Firekiss (her journal name!) refers to a special debuff she can apply that amplifies damage done in general, and also makes the burn immediately flare up for more damage if blah blah blah, does this really matter?

Because this isn't a video game, this is Dreamwidth RP.

How I'd play it in Dreamwidth RP terms: Guinaifen can hit things with her polearm and has a knack for small explosives like firecrackers and small bombs and is really good at throwing them to make them sting. Everything else just seems so needlessly convoluted.

Inventory: Shoes, which more specifically have flint/steel/something on her heels, and that’s what she uses to light fuses and so on. (I know.) So they’re not just shoes, but shoes she can use to start fires.

A polearm. It’s a stick. In terms of weapon damage it’s like a +1 polearm: solid, dependable, but unremarkable in the grand scheme of things. In terms of aesthetics, it’s a +3. It looks cool, and isn’t that important too? It can collapse for easy traveling size, and expand for easy battle moments.

She also wears a small gong and mallet that she uses to draw people to her shows.
